Assistant Stage Technician

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Stage Technician to join our Stage Staff department for the 2025 Festival

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Stage Technician to join our Stage Staff department for the 2025 Festival.

You will be required to work as part of a team in realising the technical requirements of the stage department. This will centre mainly on changing over from one Opera to another, running show cues, maintaining scenery and equipment to the highest standard. You will assist with handling scenery for fit ups and changeovers as well as carrying out minor repairs.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • To assist in fit ups, get- ins, maintenance and all technical aspects of show production.
  • To be part of a show team and carry out performance duties as necessary 
  • To maintain all backstage areas to the highest standard and keep all storage units in order.
  • To work alongside others in a safe and efficient manner.
  • To adhere to all schedules and follow the leadership of the Stage Supervisors and the Head of Stage
  • To be able to work at heights when required
  • To undertake, if required, all manner of set refurbishment, painting, cleaning etc, and to assist in the maintenance of productions throughout their run.
  • To follow instructions and complete all instructed tasks within the given time frame
  • To work within all health and safety guidelines and Company policy
  • To participate in all allocated training programmes and initiatives 
  • To carry out all other duties where required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential
  • Good communication skills
  • To be able to receive manual handling training
  • To be able to work in unison with all other departments in achieving productions of the highest quality
  • Previous experience in working as part of a stage team in a theatre
Desirable
  • Experience in Flying
  • Experience in Rigging
  • Experience in Automation
  • Experience in Metalwork
  • Experience in Carpentry skills

Rates of Pay 

You will be required to work an average of no more than 48 hours per week, including weekends

The weekly salary for this position is currently £712, plus any agreed increases for 2025.
