Youth orchestra open call

A chance for under 19s to perform with the Glyndebourne Sinfonia in our community opera Uprising.

Glyndebourne is offering instrumentalists under the age of 19 who live within a 25 mile radius of Glyndebourne, the opportunity to play alongside the Glyndebourne Sinfonia for the world premiere production of Uprising by Jonathan Dove in Spring 2025, conducted by Andrew Gourlay.

Participants in the project will play in all orchestral rehearsals and performances for Uprising, and receive specialist mentoring and advice from members of the orchestra – offering you a unique opportunity to discover what it’s like to be part of a professional orchestra, and to perform in a world premiere.

We are looking for the following instruments to join the Sinfonia:

  • Violin
  • Double bass
  • Flute/piccolo (doubling)
  • Cor anglais
  • Bassoon/contrabassoon (doubling)
  • French horn
  • Trumpet
  • Trombone

Deadline for applications: 09.00am Monday 11 November 2024.

All applicants must be available for all rehearsals and performances as detailed in the Uprising Orchestra schedule. Please apply by following the link below and filling in the Google form.
