Anja Bihlmaier
Details
Position: Conductor
Known for her charisma, musical intuition and passion combined with precision, Anja Bihlmaier is Chief Conductor of Residentie Orkest in The Hague. She made her London Philharmonic debut at the Royal Festival Hall this spring and her BBC Proms debut in 2023. She recently made her debut with Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg, Hallé Orchestra and Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and returned to Camerata Salzburg. She regularly appears with the major Scandinavian orchestras and in the UK has conducted the BBC Symphony, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National, Hallé and City of Birmingham Symphony orchestras. After studying in Freiburg and Salzburg she held positions at Staatsoper Hannover, Theater Chemnitz and Staatstheater Kassel, subsequently conducting productions in Vienna and across Scandinavia, including La traviata (Oslo) and Der fliegende Holländer (Tampere) in 2023.
