I am very lucky to work somewhere as beautiful as Glyndebourne.
As I walk to my office in the morning I get to enjoy the spectacular views across Sussex Downs. From the car park, passing the croquet lawn, the view across the ha-ha is different every morning. Each day I look forward to that glimpse of the gardens with the backdrop of sheep grazing. Glorious flower beds in bloom to frosted grass glinting in the winter sun, I never miss the opportunity to take a moment to enjoy where I work.
In the spring and summer this is accompanied by music; singing emanating from the practice rooms and the Old Green Room. I recommend when you next visit Glyndebourne take a minute to enjoy that first moment when the view of the Downs opens up in front of you, having previously been hidden from sight. For me that is part of the magic of Glyndebourne. Although at the moment it is quiet and calm, I cannot wait for the buzz of the Festival to take hold again.

I’ve heard so many fabulous things about the Ravel Double Bill, so I cannot wait to hear the music from rehearsals drifting down to my desk. The pictures of the production on glyndebourne.com, and seeing some of the larger than life props from L’enfant et les sortilèges, make sure this is a must see for me. I’m also in anticipation for hearing Iestyn Davies sing again. His stunning countertenor voice in Rinaldo was captivating so I am very excited about Saul.
