The Organ Room Sessions

Danielle de Niese

Danielle de Niese performs arias from Cendrillon and Carmen in the historic Glyndebourne Organ Room.

Danielle de Niese performs arias from Cendrillon and Carmen.

Danielle’s first piece is ‘Vous êtes mon Prince Charmant’ (‘You are my Prince Charming’) – part of Cendrillon’s exquisite first duet with Prince. The two lovers have just met for the very first time at the ball. Suddenly the world falls away and they only have eyes for each other. The sweet simplicity of Cendrillon’s music here contrasts with her growing musical maturity as the opera progresses and infatuation turns to something deeper.

In her second performance de Niese gives a scintillating rendition of the famous ‘Habanera’ from Bizet’s Carmen – the gypsy-heroine’s sensual first aria in which she compares love to wild, untameable bird.
