Workshop for teachers
An opportunity for secondary/FE teachers to delve deeper into operas and develop a unique insight into the productions at Glyndebourne with a view to enhancing the experience of students.
Glyndebourne Education is offering a Workshop for teachers to complement Performances for Schools. This full day session is designed for music, drama and performing arts teachers and will demonstrate a range of practical and creative ways of introducing opera to secondary, sixth form and university students. The day’s content includes:
- Demonstrating how to prepare students who are attending a performance
- Covering a range of skills suitable for practical work in the performing arts
- Introducing resources to support these skills.
The workshop will be led by an experienced team of workshop leaders from Glyndebourne. Support material and other useful resources will be provided.
"Can I say a huge ‘thank you’ for organizing and then letting me come to the inspirational workshop given by Dom and Claire – it was the best inset day I have ever been to and I have already used several of the ideas Dom gave us with great success."
- Director of Music, The Mall School
The date and cost of this event will be confirmed before the end of the Summer term.
Workshops for schools
Workshops for schools prepare young people for their first visit to opera. Each bespoke session provides an introduction to the opera and focuses on the musical style and themes through a combination of engaging practical activities. Please be aware that this year there will be very limited availability for workshops for schools.
- Workshops are two and a half hours long
- Workshops are held in a local school
- The date will be confirmed nearer the time, but workshops are held in the weeks before the performance.
Please refer to the booking form on the Performances for Schools page to register your interest for either of these events.
