Leave a lasting legacy
Legacies can support specific areas of work such as education or young singers, or contribute more generally towards the operatic enjoyment of future generations. Either way, they can make a unique memorial to a personal involvement with Glyndebourne.
We hope you’ll be inspired to leave a gift to Glyndebourne, gaining the satisfaction of knowing it will help ensure the future of an organisation you’ve loved during your lifetime.
‘It feels like I’m leaving the gift to a member of our family’
– John Christie Society Member
Legacies can be made by way of a gift of cash, shares or property and your solicitor can advise you on writing your will. As Glyndebourne Productions Limited is a registered charity (no. 243877) no inheritance tax is payable on the amount of your legacy. In certain situations this may be an effective way of reducing the tax liability of your estate whilst benefiting a favourite charity.

In 1934 Glyndebourne was founded through the generosity and vision of Audrey Mildmay and John Christie. The international festival it has become today is a credit to their vision: ‘Not the best we can do but the best that can be done anywhere’.
To honour their legacy, we have created the John Christie Society to recognise and thank generous and forward-thinking individuals who are leaving Glyndebourne a gift in their will.
John Christie Society members are recognised in the Festival Programme Book and have the opportunity to become more involved with Glyndebourne.
Did you know?
If you leave 10% or more of the value of your taxable estate to charity, not only is the gift itself exempt from IHT but the remaining estate is subject to IHT at 36% rather than 40%.

If you would like to make a simple amendment to your will, you can download a codicil form.
Or you can download a pledge form to let us know of your intentions.
If you have made a will in which you have kindly left a legacy to Glyndebourne Arts Trust (GAT) it is not necessary to change it to Glyndebourne Productions Limited (Charity number: 243877).
Technically GPL has acquired GAT so all legacies will automatically flow through.
If you are, however, making other changes to your will it would be good housekeeping to make this amendment too.
