Songs About Us
A new production for anyone aged 7+ about children, violinists, soldiers, convicts, love and slapstick, you and me…
Devised and directed by Dominic Harlan, with Sarah Gabriel and Paul Carey Jones.
Three fearless musicians take you through eight gripping stories set to music by some of the world’s greatest song - writers. Choose to direct, sing and act with the performers, or simply watch the mayhem unfold from the safety of your seat. An unpredictable, irrepressible show in which only one thing is certain: you will leave with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.
Convicts, smugglers, young violinists, hotel guests and a nine year old boy share their stories in this high octane, interactive song recital. Pianist and presenter Dominic Harlan is joined by two superb singers for a stunningly original concert that includes music by Schumann, Britten, Sibelius and Barber. By turns hilarious, horrifying, moving and profound, the concert guides novices into the world of each song while challenging connoisseurs to find new and unexpected twists in familiar repertoire. Songs About Us is a thrilling, hands-on show that pays homage to classical music’s most notoriously under represented genre.
