OAE Rinaldo Reworked

Orchestra of the Age of the Enlightenment Rinaldo Project: Rinaldo Reworked
Using Handel’s opera Rinaldo, Glyndebourne, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and music students from Varndean College and Blatchington Mill School have been working together to explore this Baroque work. With the help of a professional composer and arranger the students will play alongside professional musicians to perform extracts from Rinaldo as well as their own compositions inspired by Handel’s setting of the story.
This project takes place between July and October 2011 and is designed to give students the opportunity to discover more about Baroque music. The participants’ work will then be performed as part of the Brighton Early Music Festival.
After the concert on Thursday 6 October, the young musicians will have the opportunity to visit Glyndebourne to see a final dress rehearsal of the Glyndebourne production of Rinaldo.

Thank you for a delightful concert. The soloists were quite splendid and the rather serious young students must have learned a lot about baroque style and performance. I look forward to the next event like this.
