Independent research released today reveals for the first time the full extent of Glyndebourne’s significant impact on the East Sussex economy. The report examines all aspects of Glyndebourne’s impact to reveal how it supports the local economy. This includes audience spend, Glyndebourne’s expenditure on wages and with local suppliers and spending by the visiting artists who create and perform in the operas on stage.

Glyndebourne has been nominated in the Festival category of the second International Opera Awards. The Awards, which attracted over 1,600 nominations from around the world, aim to provide bursaries for emerging opera talent and to celebrate excellence in the world of opera. Glyndebourne will compete alongside the Aix-en-Provence, Bregenz, Longborough, Pesaro and Wexford festivals in its category when the awards are announced on Monday 7 April.

Glyndebourne opera house has swept the board in this year’s What’s on Stage opera poll, with award wins in the following categories: BEST NEW OPERA PRODUCTIONWinner: The Rape of Lucretia (Glyndebourne Tour/Fiona Shaw). BEST REVIVALWinner: Billy Budd (Glyndebourne Festival/Michael Grandage).

Glyndebourne’s critically acclaimed production of Billy Budd has won the Best Revival award in the whatsonstage.com Opera Poll 2013. The win comes two days before the production makes its international debut in New York at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM).

This year Glyndebourne Festival celebrates its 80th birthday, and in recognition of this Opus Arte release 'Glorious Glyndebourne' on DVD and Blu-ray.
