Glyndebourne’s critically acclaimed production of Billy Budd is to set sail for New York in February for its US première.
This is the first time Glyndebourne will stage Britten’s seafaring epic outside the UK. The production will appear at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) between February 7 and 13 and tickets are selling well.
On Friday 22 November eighty young people aged 9 - 17 will perform on the main-stage at Glyndebourne to mark the centenary of Benjamin Britten, exactly one hundred years since the day of his birth.
The performance will be attended by Britten’s niece, Sussex resident, Sally Schweizer. She will meet the participants and give a post-performance talk to share memories of her uncle, one of Britain’s most celebrated composers.
