New York’s city-wide plans to celebrate the centenary of prolific UK composer Benjamin Britten will continue in 2014 when the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) stages the US première of Glyndebourne’s critically acclaimed opera Billy Budd.
On Friday 22 November eighty young people aged 9 - 17 will perform on the main-stage at Glyndebourne to mark the centenary of Benjamin Britten, exactly one hundred years since the day of his birth.
The performance will be attended by Britten’s niece, Sussex resident, Sally Schweizer. She will meet the participants and give a post-performance talk to share memories of her uncle, one of Britain’s most celebrated composers.
