Glyndebourne’s 2012 Festival will reach a global audience of millions through innovative digital partnerships with The Guardian Newspaper Group and Picturehouse Entertainment.  The 78th Glyndebourne Festival will have an enhanced digital portfolio that sees Glyndebourne’s worldwide reach expanded through the second year of its successful Guardian partnership. Following the success of Glyndebourne’s acclaimed Fairy Queen winning the 2011 BBC Music Magazine Award for best DVD, Glyndebourne is delighted to announce Britten’s Billy Budd has been nominated as best DVD for the 2012 awards. This year’s nomination is even more exciting as this is the first year the public can vote for the category of Best DVD.

Update 16 January 2012 We are delighted that after some years in the planning, Glyndebourne’s wind turbine was installed on Friday 14 October 2012. Glyndbourne's turbine became operational in December 2011 and since that time we can proudly report we have eported 140,000 kilowatts. We will be regularly publishing details of total power generated, power utilised directly by Glyndebourne and output to the grid, both on our site and at the site of the turbine.

Glyndebourne has announced the appointment of UK-based composer Luke Styles as its new Young Composer in Residence. Styles, aged 28, has been selected from 68 applicants and a strong final shortlist of seven candidates. He takes up the appointment in September 2011 for two years, with an option for a third year.

20 May – 26 August 2012 The 2012 Glyndebourne Festival opens on 20 May and features new productions of Le nozze di Figaro, The Cunning Little Vixen and a double bill of L’Heure Espagnole and L’Enfant et les sortilèges. There are also revival productions of La Cenerentola, La bohème and The Fairy Queen.

Glyndebourne is presenting a ‘fringe’ festival this August thanks to support from the New Generation Programme (NGP) and the Jerwood Charitable Foundation.  Ranging from an exciting new promenade opera by renowned composer Julian Philips to a double bill from Glyndebourne Youth Opera, the extra performances will be held before the main Festival productions on dates throughout August. The pre-performance events aim to give audiences a taste of the work Glyndebourne produces away from the main stage, while showcasing the many talented young artists in its ranks.

Glyndebourne on Tour (GOT) 2011 presents three productions this autumn, opening at Glyndebourne then touring to six regional venues. With its blend of exciting new talent, exceptionally high production standards and value for money ticket prices, GOT offers something for everyone, whether an opera newcomer or a seasoned aficionado. GOT 2011 is led once again by Czech conductor Jakub Hrŭša, now in his second year as Music Director. This year’s programme features a new production of Donizetti’s Don Pasquale and revivals of Handel’s Rinaldo and Puccini’s La bohème.
