The Glyndebourne label has released a live recording of Love and Other Demons, the fifth opera by composer Peter Eötvös and a co-commission by Glyndebourne and the BBC. The opera is based on the novel Of Love and Other Demons by Columbian author Gabriel García Márquez Peter Eötvös is among the most commissioned creators of new operas in Europe. His latest new work, Paradise Reloaded, has its world premiere at Neue Oper Wien in Austria in October 2013.

In one month’s time, Glyndebourne’s 45th annual Tour will launch. A culmination of around 550 hours rehearsal - with a cast including 23 soloists, 37 choristers, 119 musicians and 20 children - the Tour consists of three operas crafted to the highest production standards and showcases some of the most exciting new operatic talent around.

Robin Ticciati will conduct his first Glyndebourne Festival as Music Director.  He is only the seventh conductor to hold the post in Glyndebourne’s 80- year history, following in the distinguished line of Fritz Busch, Vittorio Gui, John Pritchard, Bernard Haitink, Andrew Davis and Vladimir Jurowski.

The Glyndebourne label is releasing a live recording of its 2009 production of Tristan und Isolde, the first of two Wagner releases in 2013 to mark the composer’s bicentenary. The production, which was directed by Nikolaus Lehnhoff, debuted at the Glyndebourne Festival in 2003 and was the first Wagner opera ever to be staged at Glyndebourne. John Christie, Glyndebourne's founder, had always dreamed of staging Wagner and his dream was finally fulfilled with this acclaimed production which was revived in 2007 and 2009.

Glyndebourne has increased the number of dedicated schools performances in its annual autumn tour to give over 9,500 students across the UK the chance to experience world class opera on their doorstep. Glyndebourne’s Performances for Schools initiative has been running for eight years and offers subsidised tickets to local schools to attend dedicated Glyndebourne Tour performances. Tickets start from as little as £3 and the performances are reinforced by online resources to support teaching in the classroom.
