Throughout 2013 the Glyndebourne label celebrates the legacy of outgoing Music Director Vladimir Jurowski with the release of four of his finest Glyndebourne performances. The first of these is a recording of the 2007 Glyndebourne Festival production of Rossini’s La Cenerentola, first staged by Sir Peter Hall in 2005.
Book tickets online for Glyndebourne Festival 2013 between Monday 18 March 12.01am and midnight Sunday 25 March and get 25% off any CD on the Glyndebourne label during this time.
The latest release from the Glyndebourne label is a recording of Bizet’s universally popular opera Carmen, starring Anne Sofie von Otter. It is the first and only audio recording of the internationally-acclaimed mezzo soprano performing the role.
A recording of Laurent Pelly’s witty production of Engelbert Humperdinck's most successful opera, Hänsel und Gretel, has been released on the Glyndebourne label.
First performed at Glyndebourne in 2008, the new recording was captured during a live performance of the 2010 revival when the opera was brilliantly conducted by Robin Ticciati.
Well-received during its first run, the 2010 revival was popular with critics and audience alike with Alice Coote in the role of Hänsel and Lydia Teuscher as Gretel both receiving critical acclaim.
Following the success of Glyndebourne’s acclaimed Fairy Queen winning the 2011 BBC Music Magazine Award for best DVD, Glyndebourne is delighted to announce Britten’s Billy Budd has been nominated as best DVD for the 2012 awards.
This year’s nomination is even more exciting as this is the first year the public can vote for the category of Best DVD.
Our recording of the 2007 revival of The Turn of the Screw, Britten’s chamber opera based on Henry James’s novella of the same name is available on iTunes for a special price of £8.99 until the 28 August.
