Following overwhelming public demand for tickets to Glyndebourne’s new community opera Imago, only standing places remain for the evening performances on 7, 8 and 9 March. As a result, Glyndebourne has decided to open the schools performance at 11am on Wednesday 6 March to the public. This performance was originally only open to local schools to attend and therefore a significant number of the audience will be 16 years and under. Almost one year on from the launch of the Glyndebourne wind turbine, over 150 young people from across Sussex will perform at the opera house in a gala concert dedicated to exploring nature, nurture and the environment. ‘Till the summer comes again’ takes place on the main stage at Glyndebourne on Sunday 9 December.

Glyndebourne want males aged 16-25 years old to Man up! and join our exciting new community opera. Do you fit the criteria, or know someone that does? In March 2013 Glyndebourne is staging Imago, its next large scale community opera and the hunt is now on for a host of talented young men to join the cast. We’ll be running a pre-audition Man up! Workshop (for men only) which will take place on Saturday 22 September 2012 at The Birley Centre, Eastbourne College 10am -1pm.

An exciting new production, created by 30 young people from Brighton and Hove, premieres at Preston Park’s Velodrome on July 14th as part of the city’s Olympic Torch Relay celebrations. Vixen is the culmination of an ambitious youth project led by Glyndebourne in partnership with Central United Reformed Church Hove, the Brighton and Hove Youth Arts Project and the Youth Offending Service. The project is free to attend and open to everyone to enjoy.

A major new production staged at Glyndebourne and performed by artists with learning disabilities will premiere on Glyndebourne’s main stage on 1st April 2012.

‘Gareth Malone Goes to Glyndebourne’ wins the 2011 International Emmy Award for Best Arts Programme. Congratulations go to Twenty Twenty Television, the BBC, Gareth Malone and, of course, all the wonderful cast and musicians who took part in Knight Crew, Glyndebourne’s largest outreach project yet, which culminated in three performances from 4 - 6 March 2010. Gareth’s journey, from auditioning the young chorus through to the final performances at Glyndebourne, was filmed by the BBC as a three-part documentary, which was first broadcast on BBC2 in June 2010.
