Cast Change Announcement - L'elisir d'amore
Stephen Costello has withdrawn from the remaining performances of Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore owing to tonsillitis. The role will now be sung by Leonardo Capalbo in his Glyndebourne debut.

Other roles include Leicester/Maria Stuarda (Stuttgart Opera); Rinuccio/Gianni Schicchi (Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon); title role in Candide, Nemorino (Berlin Staatsoper); Narraboth/Salome, Juan/Der Kuhhandel, Paco/La vida breve, Ismaele/Nabucco (Opera North, the latter recorded for Chandos); Nemorino (New York City Opera); Fenton/Falstaff (Berlin Staatsoper); Edgardo/Lucia di Lammermoor (Opéra National du Rhin); Macduff, title role in Roberto Devereux (Opera Holland Park); Alfredo/La traviata (Israel, Florida, New Orleans); the Duke/Rigoletto (Toulon, Montreal); Gerald/Lakmé (Nice); Rodolfo/La bohème (Bordeaux, Cologne, Athens); Roméo/Roméo et Juliette (Opera North).

An Italian-American, Leonardo Capalbo completed his musical studies at The Julliard School of Music and at The Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, and at L’Academie Musicale de Villecroze in France.

We heard Capalbo as Nemorino on Thursday evening and it was breath-taking. One of those operatic experiences that will live in my mind forever.He held the audience spell-bound, in the palm of his hand, as he gave a truly great rendition of the "big" aria.
