Following the success of Glyndebourne’s acclaimed Fairy Queen winning the 2011 BBC Music Magazine Award for best DVD, Glyndebourne is delighted to announce Britten’s Billy Budd has been nominated as best DVD for the 2012 awards.

This year’s nomination is even more exciting as this is the first year the public can vote for the category of Best DVD.

The 2010 Festival production of Billy Budd was Michael Grandage’s directorial debut at Glyndebourne and as one of this country’s most distinguished theatre directors Grandage also marked his operatic debut with Britten’s all-male opera. With a truly superb, international cast Grandage’s production was immaculate and a breath-taking interpretation of Britten’s work. See Billy Budd production photos.

Public voting for the 2012 Awards opens on Friday January 13 and runs until Wednesday 29 February 2012. Vote now for what Opera magazine described as “hugely impressive. Orchestrally and chorally, a five-star evening."
