Throughout 2013 the Glyndebourne label celebrates the legacy of outgoing Music Director Vladimir Jurowski with the release of four of his finest Glyndebourne performances. The first of these is a recording of the 2007 Glyndebourne Festival production of Rossini’s La Cenerentola, first staged by Sir Peter Hall in 2005.
Three singers from the South East who earlier this year took part in a community opera at Glyndebourne will return to the opera house this month to perform in the world-famous Glyndebourne Festival.
Fiona Alsop, Matthew Tweddle and Darren Harker will appear in a new production of the opera Aridane auf Naxos by composer Richard Strauss which opens this year’s Glyndebourne Festival on Saturday 18 May.
Glyndebourne has today launched its first national art competition inviting talented and aspiring young artists from across the UK to design the cover of its 2013 Tour Programme. The winning artist will see their artwork grace the cover of 10,000 copies of the Glyndebourne Tour Programme and be exhibited at Glyndebourne and participating gallery spaces this autumn.

When the 2013 Glyndebourne Festival opens on May 18 the seminal anniversaries of Verdi and Britten will be celebrated on stage, on screen and online. For the first time in Glyndebourne’s history, all six Festival productions (in a combination of live and recorded live transmissions) will be streamed into cinemas and online, cementing Glyndebourne’s longstanding commitment to using digital developments to bring the art form to new audiences.

Following overwhelming public demand for tickets to Glyndebourne’s new community opera Imago, only standing places remain for the evening performances on 7, 8 and 9 March.
As a result, Glyndebourne has decided to open the schools performance at 11am on Wednesday 6 March to the public. This performance was originally only open to local schools to attend and therefore a significant number of the audience will be 16 years and under.
