Sarah Young did a two year foundation at Reigate School of Art and Design followed by a Degree at Brighton. She is a painter, printmaker, illustrator, designer and maker. Her work is often narrative, inspired by and referencing myth, folktales and burlesque imagery.
Sarah created a travelling puppet theatre with Jon Tutton performing 'The Incredible Tale of Dr Faustus' and 'Ondine - the Story of a Mermaid' Later they went on to found and direct 'Brighton Art Fair', 'Made - Brighton's Design and Craft Fair', 'The Palace Art Fair', and 'MADE LONDON - The Design and Craft Fair' - she has designed all the graphics for the shows for the past nine years and usually exhibits too.
Sarah has worked extensively as an illustrator - most recently working on Greek Myths - a beautiful collection of stories by Ann Turnbull for Walker Books, Running Wild by Michael Morpurgo, and the New York Times.
Her prints - mostly woodcut, linocut, collagraph, and silkscreen are in galleries throughout the country.
Sarah has spent time in the Glyndebourne archive looking at images of the opera, backstage and audiences from the past decades - her original work for Glyndebourne is a distillation of these visits.
