This year Glyndebourne Youth Opera (GYO) will be providing local young people with world-class performance opportunities and engaging opera workshops open to all.

If you are on the GYO mailing list, you will have recently received an email about forthcoming workshops. Full details about these workshops can be found below. Please call the Education Department on 01273 815023 if you have any questions.

GYO 2014 Performance Project:

We have commissioned Glyndebourne’s Young Composer in Residence, Luke Styles, to write a brand new opera to be performed by our youth opera company on the Glyndebourne main stage  on 8 November 2014. This will be both an exciting and challenging opportunity to take part in the world premiere of a new opera and enjoy the unforgettable experience of performing on Glyndebourne’s world-famous stage.

About the auditions

The auditions will take a whole-group workshop format, just like a standard GYO rehearsal or workshop.  It should be more fun than scary, and you will not be expected to sing a solo in front of a panel.

While the atmosphere of the audition sessions will be relaxed, we are expecting a high level of interest in this project, and there will be competition for places. Those who get through will be the most suitable to take part in the project, and not everyone who auditions will be offered a place.

To take part it is essential you are able to commit to all key rehearsal and performance dates.
