Glyndebourne Festival Society

Photo: Charlotte BoultonIn 1951 John Christie founded the Glyndebourne Festival Society to raise money to ensure the long-term funding of Glyndebourne. Ever since, it has provided not only support for Glyndebourne’s artistic endeavour but also the chance for opera-lovers to play an intrinsic role in one of the world’s greatest opera companies. Today the society has about 9,000 Members.

The Glyndebourne Festival Society is currently closed, but a limited number of Associate Members (the waiting list for Festival Society Membership) move into full membership each year as places in the Festival Society become available. Society members pay £155 annual subscription and receive entry into the first ballot for Festival tickets. They also receive priority information about Glyndebourne, access to events and programme books.

Applications for Associate Membership are invited periodically. Associate Members hold a position on the waiting list for Festival Society membership. Associate Members pay an annual subscription of £75 and receive entry into the second ballot for Festival tickets.

Festival Mailing List subscribers can book Festival tickets before the Box Office opens to the general public. There is an annual charge of £20.

Although the Festival Society is currently closed, there are various other membership opportunities available. By supporting the Festival, Glyndebourne on Tour, or one of our Education and Community projects, individuals, companies and charitable trusts make a vital contribution to Glyndebourne's future. Corporate support makes a vital contribution to Glyndebourne’s artistic and financial future and helps towards effective planning of future productions. This support enables us to reach our artistic aspirations as well as freeing-up much-needed funds towards our education and community work. Corporate Membership, a strictly limited scheme available for periods of one, three or five years, enables companies to buy a limited number of tickets each season and to take advantage of the exceptional facilities for corporate hospitality at Glyndebourne.

With Individual Funding Membership, a limited number of high-priority memberships are available for periods of five or 10 years. Individual Funding Membership gives members a guaranteed ticket allocation together with priority booking and provides invaluable support for Festival productions.

Glyndebourne also offers several tax efficient ways for members in America and Europe to support Glyndebourne.

Friends of Glyndebourne on Tour enjoy priority booking for Tour performances at Glyndebourne for an annual subscription from £30.
