It was excellent, from the enormous thunder storm which had the grace to delay until I had carried the picnic to a place under cover, to the charm and helpfulness of all your staff and to the fiz of the performance. Well, that's what I was thinking until Zerlina tied up Leporello and started to shave him.
I have seen Don Giovanni at least five times and whilst I may, from time to time, have dozed for a brief moment to have missed this entirescene ws beyond belief.
Ah, Vienna versus Prague - now I understand. I suppose it was all contained in your program which I don't need to buy 'cos I know the opera so well. Shame on me!
An amazing performance with fantastic staging. A simply excellent production!
Congratulations to Joyce Bell on her ninetieth birthday. Our attendance was another birthday treat, in this case my sixtieth. We had visited Glyndebourne before and found the surroundings as delightful as ever.
The staging was superb with the graveyard and final banquet scenes particularly effective. We were particularly impressed by the performances of Mia Persson (an unusually blonde Elvira) and Matthew Rose as Leporello. All the principals must be commended on their wonderful singing.
The whole experience was a joy and our thanks go to all staff, from box office to bar who helped to make it so.
Sunday's(5th June) performance of Don Giovanni was wonderful throughout and the garden enjoyed the soft refreshing rain.
